His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije concelebrated today the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine at Golgotha, in the Church of the Resurrection (Church of the Holy Sepulchre) in Jerusalem.

The chronicles of this greatest Christian shrine will record that His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije became the first Primate of an Orthodox Church in history, aside from the Patriarch of Jerusalem, to celebrate the Divine Liturgy at Golgotha – the site of the Crucifixion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Additionally, another golden page has been inscribed in the history of the Serbian Church and the Serbian people. Following the Divine Liturgy, the Most Blessed Patriarchs Theophilos and Porfirije venerated the Holy Sepulchre. On this sacred site, His Beatitude Patriarch of Jerusalem kyr Theophilos III bestowed upon His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije the highest decoration of the Jerusalem Patriarchate – the Order of the Grand Cross. Presenting this prestigious decoration, which adorns the chests of only a select few, Patriarch Theophilos emphasized the great significance of Patriarch Porfirije’s archpastoral and theological work, not only for the Serbian Orthodox Church but for the entire Orthodox world.
