125 years of New Cemetary
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch attended yesterday at the City Assembly of the City of Belgrade the celebration of 125th anniversary of the Belgrade's New Cemetary.
On this occasion His Holiness gave the Public Enterprise Funeral Services a gramata for special effort and unselfish commitment of the officers of this collective for the regulation of the court yard of the monastery of Rakovica, tombs of Serbian Patriarch Pavle and Dimitrije of blessed repose, as well as also for the personal effort and the gift to the Serbian Orthodox Church.
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch handed the order of St. Sava of the Second degree to Mr. Dragan Baltovski, the director of the PCE Funeral Services for the effective love towards the Mother Church, especially shown by projecting and creating the cross tombstone of Serbian Patriarch Pavle of blessed repose.
During the celebration there was a projection of a short documentary about the New Cemetary as a historical testimony. Dr Predrag Markovic held a speech about the historical and cultural significance of the New Cemetary. Also a photo monograph about the New Cemetary was showcased in the Hall of the City Assembly.
