Church of Greece: Disappointment and strong protest at conversion of Chora Church into a mosque

In an announcement issued today after its meeting, the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece expressed disappointment and concern while protesting vehemently against the decision of the Turkish government to convert the Chora Church into a mosque and a place of prayer of the Islamic religion, “approaching a point of division and disintegration”.  As it has been the case for Hagia Sophia, the Church of Greece immediately appeal to the international community and engage in representations, requesting that the Chora Church should return to its previous status.
