With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, on the occasion of the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, a concert of spiritual music was held at the church of Saint Sava in Berlin on Saturday, 9 March 2013.
On the beginning of the concert the dean of the Saint Sava church, protopresbyter Veljko Gacic, pointed out the significance of this jubilee for our Local Church, for all Christianity and for the whole world.
The feast day of the forefather of the holy Nemanjic’s dynasty - the day when we celebrate among the saints our father Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher - was solemnly celebrated in Nis. The 900th anniversary of his birth was marked with this celebration. At the Cathedral church His Grace Bishop Jovan of Nis celebrated the festal vigil service.
From February 14 to June 3 the all-Ukrainian Cross procession with a particle of the Holy and Life-giving Cross of the Lord and relics of Saints Constantine and Helen, Equals-to-the-Apostles, has been passing through towns of the Ukraine. The prayer procession is devoted to the 1700th anniversary of promulgation of the edict of Milan by Emperor Constantine and will be visiting 51 Ukrainian towns.
On Saturday, 16 February 2013, the book of Nebojsa Lapcevic The Cross of Holy Emperor Constantine, printed on the occasion of 1700 years of the Edict of Milan was presented at the Amphitheatre of Lazarica church. The Orthodox Diocese of Krusevac and the Historical Archives of the town of Krusevac organized the event.
President Nikolic and Serbian Patriarch Irinej expressed their concern regarding the security of the citizens and the Serbian Church in Kosovo and Metohia, especially after recent events with respect to the monastery of Decani. They both agreed that the international organizations, which were present in the South Serbian province, were bound with the mandate, approved by the Republic of Serbia, to protect rights and security of citizens and religious shrines in Kosovo and Metohia.
