Delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Saint Petersburg
Serbian Patriarch Irinej with his high delegation, within the irenic visit to the Russian Orthodox Church, came to St. Petersburg on 19 July 2013
On his trip to the city on the Neva River he was accompanied by president of the Office of External Church Relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of Novospask stavropegial monastery Bishop Sava of Voskresensk, dean of the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow Bishop Antonije of Moravica, dean of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade protopresbyter Vitaly Tarasyev, as well as chairman of the Protocol department of the Diocese of St. Petersburg I.N. Sudosa.
At the airport “Pulkovo-3” His Holiness was welcomed by Metropolitan Vladimir of Saint Petersburg and Ladosh, rector of St. Petersburg Theological Academy Bishop Ambrose of Peterhof as well as clergy the diocese of Saint Petersburg.
From the airport the church delegation went to Novodevichy Convent dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ. At the Convent, His Holiness was welcomed by Abbess Sophia (Silina) with sisterhood. The mother abbess granted a copy of an icon of the Mother of God “Joy and consolation” to our Patriarch.
Later on, the head of the Serbian Church will venerate shrines of this north diocesan and together with Metropolitan of Saint Petersburg and Lados will celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Kazan Cathedral.
