Governor of Alexandria: We are on the side of the Patriarchate of Alexandria

The Governor of Alexandria, Mohamed El-Sherif, who took office on November 27, expressed his respect and appreciation for the Greek Orthodox Church of Africa, which has been based in the flagship city of Alexandria for 2,000 years, maintaining the historic relations between Greece and Egypt.

“We are on the side of the Patriarchate of Alexandria,” the governor of Alexandria told the primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
On his part, Patriarch Theodore expressed his gratitude and asked the new governor to convey his respect to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for the support and security he provides to the Church of Alexandria.

Patriarch Theodore and the new governor of Alexandria also welcomed the excellent relations between Greece, Egypt and Cyprus, which work for the benefit of the peoples.

Finally, the Patriarch invited the governor to visit the seat of the Patriarchate in the New Year. The governor traditionally sends Al Sisi’s New Year wishes to the Patriarchate of Alexandria Theophany Day, which is solemnly celebrated in Alexandria.
