Serbian Unity Congress and the Ministry for Religion and Diaspora organized a Round table discussion with the topic "The role of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the preservation of identity of Diaspora" on Monday, 21st of May.
His Grace Bishop Konstantin of Middle Europe congratulated to Mr. Joachim Gauck, a newly elected President of Germany. In his letter, His Grace Bishop wished new president of Germany God's help in performing his very responsible duty.
Joachim Gauck is the eleventh president of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Federal Assembly elected him on March 18 of this year with majority votes. The current federal president is the rector of the Protestant church. He was an opponent of the regime in Eastern Germany, and following the reunification of Germany, he became Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Archives of former "Democratic Republic of Germany".
At the Gallery of the National Museum in Vranje from February 12 until 22, 2012 within the celebration of the Statehood Day of Serbia an exhibition " Sava Tekelija - A great Serbian benefactor" isbeing held.
In a crowded hall of the Chicago Cathedral church of Holy Resurrection of Christ, on Saturday, December 10, The Diaries of His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral were solemnly presented, which in four volumes witnesses on the suffering of the Orthodox Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija in the period of 1999-2000 after the arrival of the international peacekeeping forces in the Southern Serbian province.
A pan-Orthodox clergy retreat was held, December 6–8, 2011 at the St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center in Dunlap, California (near Fresno). Present at the retreat, together with 60 priests, were the following hierarchs of various Orthodox jurisdictions of California: Metropolitan Gerasimos (Greek Orthodox Church), Bishop Maxim (Serbian Orthodox Church), and Bishop Benjamin (Orthodox Church in America). Bishop Joseph (Antiochian Orthodox Church) and Archbishop Kyrill (Russian Orthodox Church Abroad) were absent.
The retreat, presented by Protopresbyter A. Kalivas, Professor emeritus of Liturgics at the Holy Cross Seminary, MA, was on the liturgical themes.
