5 Tatarstan inmates baptized in font built by fellow prisoners

The Sacrament of holy Baptism was celebrated recently in the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, located on the territory of the Federal State Institution Penal Colony #5 of the Federal Penitential Service of the Republic of Tatarstan in the village of Nizhniye Vyazovye. Following another catechetical discussion, five new prisoners expressed their desire to accept holy Baptism into the Orthodox Church, reports “Orthodoxy in Tatarstan,” the information-education site of the Tatarstan Diocese.

On February 9, 2018, Archbishop Tikhon of Podolsk, administrator of the Diocese of Berlin and Germany, met with H.E. Sergei Nechayev, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Federal Republic of Germany.
