On Sunday, Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill consecrated the Trinity Cathedral in the Far Eastern city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It took almost ten years to build what is now one of the Kamchatka Peninsula's largest cathedrals. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the five-cupola Trinity Cathedral can simultaneously accommodate at least 1,000 believers. During the Sunday ceremony, Patriarch Kirill expressed hope that the Cathedral will contribute considerably to the Russian Orthodox Church's clout in the region.
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia first time in history of the Russian Orthodox Church visited Komandor Islands, where he consecrated a place for building St. Nicholas Church on Bering Island at the only village existing there and urged Aleutians and other local residents to search for support in faith, care for their health and set up big families.
The Metropolitan Council of the Orthodox Church in America will hold its fall meeting Monday through Thursday, September 20-23, 2010. The meeting will open with a retreat led by Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, Dean Emeritus of Saint Vladimir's Seminary, Crestwood, NY.

On 15 September 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriachate's Department for External Church Relations, currently on a visit to Estonia with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, concelebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in Tallinn. The liturgy was celebrated to mark the 20th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Metropolitan Korniliy of Tallinn and Estonia.
