Renowned Orthodox Theologian And Philosopher To Speak At Chicago Cathedral

Renowned Orthodox theologian, professor, and philosopher Dr. Christos Yannaras of Athens, Greece, will speak to parishioners and guests of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, September 25th, 2010, as part of a week of events celebrating the blessing of the Cathedral frescos.

Dr. Yannaras, author of more than 30 books and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, "has been for several decades one of the most prolific, original, and contemporary Orthodox writers in Greece... [and] perhaps one of the most significant Christian philosophers in Europe," according to Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury.

Serbian factions united

The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Australia and New Zealand has declared the dispute between factions at Wodonga's Serbian Orthodox Church over during a visit to the city. Bishop Irinej conducted services at the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in High Street on Saturday.

Celebration of Tesla's Day in Perth

The 7th annual Tesla Day and the 154th anniversary of his birthday were celebrated on Saturday evening, 10th of July at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel. Enormous interest and support for this event was demonstrated by all tickets being sold out a couple of months ahead!

Nativity of Saint John the Baptist at New Gracanica

On Wednesday, July 7th, the feast day of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, Divine Liturgy was served at the New Gracanica Monastery. Liturgy was served by Bishop Longin, several priests and a deacon, and the responses at the Liturgy were sung by the children of Camp Gracanica which started on Sunday. All of the children from the camp not only participated in the prayer but also took Holy Communion at the service.

Counselor orientation held at Shadeland

An orientation for counselors was held today at the Shadeland Camp in preparation for the 2010 camp season. This year's extended four week program will include over 300 registered campers. His Grace Bishop Mitrophan presided over the orientation with V. Rev. Dr. Rodney Torbic speaking along with Vesna Meinert and camp director V. Rev. Zivojin Jakovljevic.
