Serbian Patriarch Irinej at the celebration of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Patriarchate of Pec
In an ancient seat of the Serbian archbishops and patriarchs also this year one of monastery slavas was celebrated - the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God. This year's celebration of the holiday was especially marked thanks to His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch who on the eve of the holiday participated in a solemn vesper service with achatist to Mother of God, and then on the feast day served the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Apostle.
His Holiness was concelebrated by Their Graces Bishops Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and Vicar Jovan of Lipljan with more than twenty priests from several Dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Divine Liturgy was chanted by a choir of pupils of the newly-restored Prizren Seminary of St. Cyril and Methodius. There were many believers from Serbia, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy Serbian Patriarch blessed and cut slava cakes which were made by nuns from the monastery of the Patriarchate of Pec and today's host of the slava, Ranko Jokic, a returnee from Pec.
Today's celebration was ended by a slava lunch who was prepared by heugomene of the monastery of Patriarchate of Pec, mother Fevronija with sisters. At the lunch also present were international representatives of Italian and Slovenian KFOR, UNMIK and OEBS.
