The feast day of the forefather of the holy Nemanjic’s dynasty - the day when we celebrate among the saints our father Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher - was solemnly celebrated in Nis. The 900th anniversary of his birth was marked with this celebration. At the Cathedral church His Grace Bishop Jovan of Nis celebrated the festal vigil service.
In attendance of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, and His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, His Grace Bishop Andrej of Remesiana celebrated the vigil service on the eve of the feast day of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher at the chapel dedicated to the forefather of the Serbian people at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade.
On the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of the chapel, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher on 26 February 2013

If the majority of historians agree that Stefan Nemanja was born in the year 1113 and if we agree that this fact is true that would make this year a jubilee year and we would be celebrating the 900th birthday of the "father of the Serbian state".
On Saturday, February 23, 2013 His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch met with Mr. Spiriodn Spiru, Governor of the Ionian Islands; Mr. Giannis Trepeklis and Mr. Kostas Aravantis, mayors of Corfu and Lefkada respectfully; accompanied by His Excellency Dimostenes Stoidis, Ambassador of Greece in Serbia and Mr. Spiros Mastoras, honorary consul of Serbia on Corfu.
