Saint Sava's Day in the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic
3. February 2012 - 11:03Djurdjevi Stupovi - The Divine Liturgy on the feast day of Saint Sava, the First Arcbiship of Serbia, His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic served in the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi. Many are against Saint Sava here in Montenegro, where his cult was particularly strong and where he was respected with love and celebated at homes and schools and there is almost nor a hill neither a field which bears his name. All the Petrovics, until the last ruler of Montenegro, were loyal to Saint Sava and followed him, and King Nikola wrote that beautiful poem about St. Sava as the national figure, as the school slava and the teacher of the youth. And once one will say that the cult of Saint Sava is imported from Serbia by us, which is not true, said Bishop Joanikije in its sermon.
