His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia paid an official visit to the Orthodox Church of Cyprus on June 8-11, 2012.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was accompanied by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR); Bishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administrative Secretariat; Mr. Vladimir Legoida, chairman of the Synodal Information Department; archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR deputy chairman; archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations; protodeacon Vladimir Nazarkin, assistant to the DECR chairman; and Mr. Mikhail Kuksov, acting head of the Patriarch’s personal secretariat.
On the first day of the visit, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the hierarchs who accompanied him, attended the session of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus.
On Saturday, June 2, 2012, His All-Holiness, accompanied by Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, visited the Armenian hospital of St. Savior (Surp Pırgiç) in Kazlıçeşme and attended an exhibition entitled "The Ottoman period until today -- 180 Years of History: the Armenian Hospital of Saint Savior. "
On Monday, June 4, 2012, His All-Holiness presided over the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Holy Spirit at the Holy Trinity Church of Stavrodromion. Among those in attendance were the Consul General of Greece, the Hon. Nicholas Matthioudakis and his wife, the Hon. Katerina Varvarigos, Consul of Greece in Adrianople, and pilgrims from Greece.
Archpriest Georges Florovsky’s book “Christianity and Culture” has been published for the first time in the Chinese language. This was reported by Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev, the priest-in-charge of the community of the Chief Apostles, Saints Peter and Paul, in Hong Kong.
The publication was realized by the Hong Kong Institute of Sino-Christian Studies, with support of the Orthodox Brotherhood of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Hong Kong and the Orthodox Fellowship of All Saints of China (United States).
The choir of the Grodno Orthodox Eparchy got the top prize of the 31st International Festival of Orthodox Church Music in Hajnowka (Poland), BelTA learnt from Consul General of Belarus in Bialystok Alexander Berebenya.
In his words, apart from this award, the male choir of the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus received a special prize.
