On 14th November 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, met with His Excellency Prime Miniaster Antonis Samaras of Greece at the Maximos Mansion. The meeting took place so that His Beatitude could be briefed on the developments connected with the recent three-day summit between Egypt-Greece-Cyprus in the Egyptian capital.
On Sunday, the 20th of October/2nd of November 2014, the Mayor of the City Kiev, Mr Vitaliy Klychko, an internationally acclaimed boxing champion, visited the Patriarchate. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, Mr Hennadii Nadolenko, and by Avrum Silman.
On 31 October 20124, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met with the Grand Mufti of Syria, Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun.
They were joined in the meeting, which took place at the Patriarchal and Synodal residence in St. Daniel’s Monastery, by H.E. Riad Haddam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Russia; Mr. Inayatolla Hassoun, the Grand Mufti’s son, interpreter Nofal Kaltum, and archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), vice-chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.
On 28th October 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, welcomed to the Patriarchal See the Primate of the Armenian Orthodox Diocese in Egypt, Bishop Ashod Mnatsakanyan. During their meeting, which is part of the cooperation between Christians denominations in Egypt, the two Church leaders discussed matters relating to their mutual intention to work for institutional consolidation and for the active defense of the right to the freedom of religious expression for all Christians in Egypt, regardless of denomination.
On Sunday 18 October 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa conducted the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of Ss Anargyri in Nairobi, Kenya, supported by His Eminence Makarios of Kenya, His Grace Innocent Bishop of Burundi and Rwanda and Fr Athenodoros Papaevripiades, as well as many African priests. During the Divine Liturgy, at which the Patriarchal Academy choir sang, His Beatitude ordained to the Diaconate the second year seminarian Ioannis Karakasia. Present at the Divine Liturgy were the Ambassadors of Greece, Russia and Serbia, and hundreds of African Orthodox faithful who filled the Holy Church and the grounds from early in the morning.
