An archaeological site from the 5th-6th century AD which is famous for harboring an old stone church is to be excavated near the town of Trudovets, Botevgrad Municipality, in Northwest Bulgaria.
The Orthodox Metropolitan of Belgium, Athenagoras (Ecumenical Patriarchate) has called for all religious leaders of Belgium to unite their voices and forces against terrorism.
Commenting on the attacks of Tuesday morning in Brussels, Athenagoras, President of the Orthodox Episcopal Assembly of Belgium, appealed to every person of good will around the world, Christians and non, to become a shield against terrorism as well as messengers of peace.
On Saturday, the 6th/19th of March 2016, the Saturday of the First Week of the Fasting Period, the Patriarchate of Jerusalem commemorated the miracle of St Theodore the Tyron and the Great-Martyr at the Monastery dedicated to his name to the west of the Patriarchate on the way to the New Gate.
On March 19, 2016, a solemn ceremony took place in the French capital on the occasion of the blessing and installation of the main cupola and a cross on top of the new cathedral church of the diocese of Chersonese, on the Branley embankment.

Over 400,000 pilgrims from Russia visited Israel over the past year, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said during a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Moscow.
"The fact that over a million people in Israel speak Russian creates a special atmosphere for our pilgrims, and they often feel at home in Israel," the patriarch said.
