Diocesan Day 2015

On Sunday, August 9th, faithful Serbian communities from across the eastern United States gathered at Saint Sava Camp in Shadeland, Pennsylvania.

The day began with Holy Hierarchal Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Grace Bishop Dr Mitrophan of the Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, along with twenty-four priests and one deacon.  A further three priests assisted during the service, and the congregation, led by St Sava campers, sang all responses.

Resurrection of Prebilovci – Consecration of the church of the Resurrection of Christ in Prebilovci

Holy New Martyrs of Prebilovci, who, for Christ’s sake had been thrown into pits of Surmanci, found their final abode, and their relics, after over 70 years of waiting, are in a resting place!

On Saturday, on 8 August 2015, the Holy Church of the Lord, with its Eucharistic gathering, consecrated the church of the Resurrection of Christ in the village of Prebilovci in Hercegovina, while celebrating the newly-shining Martyrs of Prebilovci. His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej officiated the Divine Liturgy with the concelebration of sixteen Bishops, a large number of priests and in presence of a huge number of faithful.  On the eve of this historic event, a Vesper service was performed in the historic Monastery of Zitomislic, near Mostar, Hercegovina.

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej will consecrate the church and officiate Hierarchal Liturgy on Saturday, 8 August 2015, at 0800

Over there, in the south, in the vicinity of Hutovo, the Neretva, and the Bregava, on a hill in Prebilovci a miracle is happening. An event is happening, the most important event for man, the world and its existence. Resurrection is happening. God is frequenting his people; God is resurrecting human bones; Lord’s Wisdom is building a home for Himself and them, the martyrs’ bones.
